Holly's Snapshots

Month 2 SECOND MONTH Holly is a JOY!!!  She's already on a semi - sleep schedule, we know her cries, and she's very predictable too.  She's been genuinely smiling since week 7 (first at daddy, then at Grandpa, then Charlotte and finally mommy got her turn!).  She's super intrigued by everything Charlotte does and wants to watch her every move....when she can stay awake.  Charlotte is truly the best big sister!  She'll wake Holly in the swing or bouncer just to kiss her and LOVES to get a "free" smile from her.  Cindy loves the snuggle time after a feeding and is still trying to get to bed earlier at night (a lifelong goal).  Rick (super dad) went back to work and the kids were easier to handle solo than Cindy imagined - although the house is still upside down.  Charlotte is still having "quiet" times in her room during the day, which gives Cindy time to do some laundry or rest.  Even though Charlotte is going through her "sassy 2's", she's still mommy's little helper and has no jealousy towards her sister.  The pictures of "CAT" and "HAT" together are all Charlotte's idea or doing - mom was just quick with the camera.  Life is good!
First Month

FIRST MONTH As you will see from the pictures we slept alot.... well, I should say all but Little Miss Charlotte who is of course trying to let go of her afternoon naps now...uggh.  Baby Holly is a very laid back and a snuggly kind of baby.  She loves to be held and cuddled, in fact she "needs" it a few times a day for a long stretch of time or she gets cranky (very different from Charlotte).  She is well past her birthweight so things are looking super!  Her big sister ADORES her and is the BIGGEST mommy's helper.  We were blessed enough to have Rick home for a month which really helped with the transition.  Cindy has unfortunately been having pretty painful "attacks" from her gall bladder/gall stone(s) set off from childbirth.  We aren't sure if it will have to come out or go away on its own, so she's still just a sitting duck for the next attack but really watching her diet (very, very low fat - not that it's a bad thing).  Cindy's sister Karen flew up from FL for a long weekend to help out when Rick took Charlotte to his sister's in Concord, NC, for daddy/daughter weekend.  All is well after the first month....yeah! posted Jun 14, 2006

Holly arrives
HOLLY ARRIVES May 15, 2006, 8 pounds 7 ounces, 20 3/4 inches long. Cindy finally went into labor on May 15th at 5:30am and Baby Holly was born that afternoon at 3:19pm.  No complications at all, except that mommy does NOT have good veins for IV's and she's needle phobic.  Cindy's close friend and neighbor, Vickie, happened to be working at the hospital that day and after her shift came over to see how we were progressing (her daughter Paige is Charlotte's STAR babysitter).  Vickie came in 5 minutes before Holly made her appearance and took pictures for Rick who was a bit emotional again (so touching).  Rick stayed with Charlotte at night and Cindy was able to bond with Holly and get some sleep.  It was a smooth experience - but one we never hope to repeat... WE'RE DONE...yeehaa!!!! posted Jun 6, 2006
Rick and Cindy before Holly arrives
ANTICIPATING HER ARRIVAL Before little Holly came, Cindy stayed VERY busy trying to transition Charlotte into her new "princess" room.  She got a toddler bed and everything a princess needs to feel pampered.  All the painting took a while (Charlotte even has glow-in-the-dark tiaras on the wall at night) but well worth it.  Charlotte NEVER looked back in her old room and immediately began calling it "Baby Holly's Room"...whew!   Rick and Cindy were lucky enough to attend a few hockey games, the SAS winter party, and the WHOLE family tagged along with him to Orlando for another fun-filled week in a rental house.  Rick was at his convention during the day while Charlotte, Cindy, and her parents played in the pool while he was gone.  We were also able to go to SeaWorld again with Cindy's sister Karen and niece Madeline and had a blast!  Overall, the whole pregnancy was a breeze luckily; Cindy lost some weight and was only 10 days overdue...sheesh! posted Jun 14, 2006
