Susan (Haas) Swirsky

Mrs. Susan (Haas) Swirsky, of Salem, passed away Monday, June 5, 2000 at home surrounded by her loving family and close friend Debbie Burke. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Raymond A. Swirsky; son, Skyler H. Swirsky; daughter Sunny L. Swirsky; brother and sister-in-law Lee C. and Brenda L. Haas of Raleigh, N.C. and nieces, Cindy Tatem and Karen Haas. Susan was born 12/20/45 in New York, the daughter of the late Clyde F. and Dorothea C. Haas.

Susan grew up in Hillsville, VA and after graduation from Radford University in 1966 began her teaching career. In memory of Susan's contribution to the lives of her students the new Minnick Education Center will contain the "Susan Haas Swirsky Vocational Life Skills Room."

On Thursday, June 8, after the family received friends at the Salem Presbyterian Church, Rev. Dean Lindsey officiated at the memorial service where friends, coleagues, and family spoke of Susan's dedication to her students, her profession, and of the love and happiness she brought to everyone she knew.
